International Students

We are proud to enrol international students at Brisbane Boys’ College, who have formed an integral part of our community during our long history.

We warmly welcome enquiries from International Students who wish to join our College family. Brisbane Boys’ College, a PMSA school, is committed to providing international students with the opportunity to receive the highest quality education in Australia. Our thriving international student program enhances the learning experience of all students through the addition of young men from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

International Admissions Process

The College enrols international students both directly or where referred and assisted by Education Agents. For important information regarding the enrollment of international students, please refer to the details below.

Please begin by completing an application including payment of the AUD $665.00 non-refundable Application Fee, either independently or with the assistance of an Education Agent (partner Agents can be found here).

The application will require the following documentation:

  • Certified true copies of school reports from the last two years, translated into English, demonstrating satisfactory levels of academic achievement in Mathematics, Language, Humanities and Sciences
  • For students with English as a second language, an International Diagnostic and Admission Test (iDAT) or an Australian Education Assessment Services (AEAS) test is required at application as evidence of English language skills appropriate to the registered course according to benchmarks in the International Student Handbook
  • A copy of the applicant’s Passport, Birth Certificate and Visa (if available)
  • Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) membership details (if currently studying in Australia)
  • Details of the applicant’s proposed living and welfare arrangements in Brisbane (Prep to Year 6 and Year 7 to 12 day student applicants)
  • Any relevant specialist or doctor’s reports

The Admissions Team will conduct an initial review to ensure that all required documents are included, the appropriate criteria are met, and the application is complete.

A secondary review is then undertaken by the Head of Junior or Secondary School to assess suitability for the College’s curriculum.

The family of the applicant or an approved Education Agent will then be advised of the outcome of the application, which will be conditional on a successful interview with Academic Leaders and prior receipt of an IDAT or AEAS test at the prescribed proficiency level.

An offer of enrollment will be made in writing, accompanied by the International Student Handbook for reference. To accept the offer of enrolment, families must submit a completed and signed offer, written agreement, and student contract and pay the following non-refundable and non-transferable fees by the due date:

  • The AUD $2,900 confirmation fee (non-refundable or transferrable)
  • A deposit equivalent to a minimum of six months’ tuition fees (refundable under some conditions)

All pages of the written agreement and enrollment contract must be signed by both parents and returned with the above fees.

The student’s Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and Confirmation of Accommodation and Welfare (CAAW) (if applicable), required for the student’s visa application, will be issued on receipt of the advance tuition fees (OSHC and a confirmed visa are required to be submitted prior to enrolment as soon as received).

Once received and confirmed as complete, the Headmaster co-signs the parent-signed enrolment contract and written agreement and acknowledgement is received from the Finance Department.

One to six months prior to proposed commencement, the applicant will be invited to submit an IDAT/AEAS test that meets the College’s language entry requirements/benchmarks, if not already received (which can be found in the International Student Handbook) and, once confirmed, attend an online or in-person interview.

After the interview, enrollment will be confirmed, with or without English as an Additional Language (EAL) conditions.

If unsuccessful, a recommendation will be made regarding further preparation.

Between confirmation and commencement, Brisbane Boys’ College will communicate with parents regarding orientation and preparation requirements.

College staff are available during this period to assist international students with selecting suitable subjects and courses to ensure students can achieve desired academic outcomes to facilitate tertiary aspirations.

Students will then receive orientation details for their first day, along with links to the International Student Orientation Handbook.

Please note that an application is a prerequisite for admission but not a guarantee of enrolment.
