Who can join?

College Swim School is open to all boys and girls in the broader community, from 4 years of age, and at all skill levels. 

All you need to do is book in for an assessment. Our qualified staff will allocate your child into the appropriate group so they can further develop their skills and come more confident in the water.

Our program has been designed with one focus in mind, creating a safe, supportive and structured learning environment. With small class sizes and qualified instructors, every child receives the attention they deserve.

Our College Swim School Learn to Swim Program is the new foundational pillar of BBC Aquatics, ensuring integrating seamlessly with the GPS program, College Swim Club and HPE instruction.

 

Splash – Water Confidence & Aquatic Familiarity

  • Safe pool entry and exit
  • Water submission and bubble blowing
  • Floating on front and back with support
  • Basic kicking movements

Minnows – Independent Movement & Body Control

  • Demonstrate body alignment and breath control
  • Introduction to freestyle arms
  • Independent floating (front and back)
  • Kicking with propulsion
  • Short distance independent swimming

Tunas – Freestyle & Backstroke Development

  • Stroke development
  • Confidence and independence development
  • Development of freestyle and backstroke and introduction to breaststroke and dolphin kick

Sharks – Stroke Consolidation & Endurance

  • Strong freestyle with rhythmic breathing
  • Controlled backstroke technique
  • Breaststroke kick development
  • Introduction to butterfly movement

Dolphins – Squad Preparation & Stroke Refinement

  • Refinement of freestyle and backstroke
  • Starts, turns and underwater skills
  • Breaststroke timing and efficiency
  • Introduction to full butterfly stroke

Squad

  • Competitive pathway and social/fitness swimming.

Meet the Team

College Swim School is led by Mr Lachlan Milner, Brisbane Boys’ College Aquatic Centre Manager. Lachlan is a High-Performance swimming coach, educator and aquatic development leader, and serves as the National Head Coach for the Vanuatu Olympic Swimming Team.

With Australia’s strong aquatic culture, swimming is not just a sport — it’s a life skill. Our goal is to build confident swimmers for life in a safe, supportive and structured environment.

All swimmers complete a 15-minute complimentary assessment prior to enrolment to ensure correct placement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The Learn to Swim Program is open to the wider community, for boys and girls, from age 4 years and up.

Assessments are free, and are a great way to identify your child’s current skill level so that they can be placed in an appropriate program.

Make-up lessons are possible. Please discuss with our staff.

Program Pricing

Lessons operate on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays between 3.30pm and 5.00pm. Small group sizes ensure individualised attention.
