Brisbane Boys’ College is committed to delivering a unique and comprehensive schooling experience to each of our students. Our thoughtfully designed curriculum, extensive array of offerings outside the classroom, and bespoke approach to teaching ensure that every BBC boy is provided with unrivalled opportunities to thrive.
The key tenets of BBC are represented on our College crest. Designed by our founder, Mr Arthur ‘Barney’ Rudd, each of the five visual elements of the crest symbolises a key article of faith underpinning our approach:
- Honour – Depicted by our motto, Sit Sine Labe Decus, Latin for ‘Let Honour Stainless Be’. You can achieve great things, but to do so dishonourably is not an achievement at all.
- Aspiration – Depicted by the star. This represents our ambition that the young men of the College will aim high. We ask that each perform to their own individual best and raise their heads above the horizon to what lies beyond.
- Wisdom – Depicted by the book of knowledge. Learning is central to all that we do at Brisbane Boys’ College.
- Achievement – Depicted by the laurel wreath, which symbolises victory. The wreath is modelled on the laurel wreaths from the ancient Olympics.
- Community – Depicted by the knot of friendship.
These fundamental tenets are the driver of everything we strive for, both in and out of the classroom. Through these values, BBC endeavours to provide our students with the knowledge to succeed in a rapidly changing world and the wisdom and depth of character to use it effectively.
