Brisbane Boys’ College is pleased to partner with Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) to establish a First Nations Bursary program.
Giving each and every young man who walks through our gates the opportunity to succeed and thrive has always been a key goal at the heart of the College’s mission statement. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of CBA, we will be able to accomplish that goal with greater effectiveness than ever before as we extend our warmest welcome to boys who might otherwise not have had the opportunity to attend BBC.
Commencing in 2023, these bursaries provide a BBC education to 10 First Nations students from regional and remote communities across Australia. The program supports boys of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, whose families are in financial need, to access a Brisbane Boys’ College education.
These placements, offered for boys in Years 7 to 10, will allow recipients to experience the benefits of a BBC education that may have otherwise been unavailable to them. These students will enjoy access to world-class facilities, on-site tutoring and a warm and vibrant College community that will help them thrive as they mature into Gentlemen of Honour.
The First Nations Bursary program is for applicants not already enrolled at the College whose family has a demonstrated and authentic need for financial assistance.
To be eligible for the program, a student must:
- be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
- have a permanent home address in a regional or remote area, as defined by the Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) 2016.
