2019 Old Boys’ Day saw record crowds flock to the College as our boys went head-to-head in fixtures against The Southport School.
There was a wonderful feeling of community as so many Old Collegians returned to BBC in what was an awesome display of College spirit, as they were treated to many fine Basketball and Rugby matches played across our College courts and ovals. The main fixture showcased schoolboy rugby at its very best as crowds witnessed an epic battle of the undefeated rugby teams.
During the half-time break a special ceremony to mark the investiture of Mr Wayne Banks as an Honourary Old Collegian took place on Miskin oval. OCA President Mr Chris Humphrey presented Mr Banks with a framed certificate and a special edition OCA Centenary Cap in recognition of his 40 years of service and contribution to the Brisbane Boys’ College community as a Junior School Teacher and Coach.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the day through their work or simply through their attendance. The hospitality and fellowship of our Old Collegians’ Association was in full swing as they hosted a post-match function on P&F Oval. Thank you to Headmaster, Mr Paul Brown and Ray White Sherwood & Graceville for their support of this event, as well as the many Old Collegians (and partners) who volunteered their time and resources.
To coincide with Old Boys’ Day hundreds of Old Collegians enjoyed their year level reunions at venues around Brisbane, with many returning to the College the following day to show their ongoing support for the boys in green, white and black.
See you in 2020 when we celebrate a centenary of the OCA.
