As with any transition, the start of secondary school is often met with a level of anticipation, excitement and some trepidation. The BBC Middle School caters to the unique needs of boys in Years 7 to 9 as they foster new connections and progress from Junior to Senior School learning environments. For most boys, this means moving away from their dependence largely on a single, classroom teacher to a more independent environment, characterised by a variety of teachers and classroom settings which foster growth, development and wonder.

Orientation & First Day Details

New Middle School students are to meet at The Chapel of St Andrew (through main reception) on the first day of Term 3. In addition to a general welcome into the College family, new Years 7 to 9 students will meet their Year Team Leaders, receive timetables and be allocated a locker.

Students are to be in full school uniform (with blazer). Please note, students are to bring their lunch, a water bottle, a notepad and pen for the first day. We recommend that your son does not bring all of his textbooks on this day.

Adequate time will be available for students to collect their device and complete a Technology Orientation class in the first week of term.

Individual tuition (Private Lessons) are also available through the College Music Department in all Orchestral and Band Instruments, Piano, Guitar, Vocal, Theory of Music and Musicianship Studies, Bagpipes and Pipe Band Drumming. Private Lessons are half hour in duration and are rotated weekly (same day, different time) to ensure students do not miss the same school lesson consecutively. All new enrolments are for a minimum of one semester (16 lessons), and cancellation of tuition must be made in writing to the Head of Performance Music with four weeks notice required. Fees for 2022 are calculated at $40 per half hour lesson and will be charged to your school fee statement. For further information, please refer to the 2022 Music Booklet.
