Presented by Brisbane Boys’ College Head of Junior School, Mrs Louise Morris, this webinar will discuss and explore Strategies and Ideas to Support Learning at Home.

This webinar is designed to assist families with primary-aged children with practical strategies and ideas of how to support learning at home. A great teacher has deep pedagogical content knowledge, skills in motivation and engagement, skills in dealing with disruptions and boredom and distractions. Despite the current circumstances, there should be no need for parents to take on the teaching role but instead focus on how they can assist with supporting continuity of learning for their child.

With this in mind, this session will provide some strategies to support parents in overcoming common challenges while their children are learning at home. The session will also provide insights for parents on how to harness:

• Setting routines and learning expectations
• The power of questioning and using ‘pause’
• Understanding the ‘right’ amount of support that should be provided
• The impact of feedback in improving learning outcomes
