About the Program

Write that Essay (WTE) was founded by Dr Ian Hunter – an academic and business historian who consults to government and multi-nationals across the areas of innovation, creativity, economic
development and education. Since 2011, WTE has been providing programs that have successfully improved literacy and writing outcomes for students in schools throughout Australia and New Zealand.

BBC introduced the WTE program to Year 4 and Year 7 students last year. As part of the program, teachers were taught the fundamentals of the Hunter Writing System and WTE staff joined BBC classrooms to coach teachers and students. Our students found the sessions easy to follow, learnt the rules of great writing, improved their literacy and particularly enjoyed the ‘sentence trains’
and ‘paragraph structures’.

BBC staff were so impressed with the results that The College has extended the program to all students in Year 3 to Year 12 students this year – and is now inviting parents to become part of the revolution.

BBC Speaks Events are open to all parents and friends of the wider BBC Community.
