Mr Stephen Ward has changed the lives of the students he has worked with through the dedicated teaching of spiritual wisdom and Christian compassion. With Jesus Christ as his example, he strives to ensure that every student feels valued, heard, and understood. In his role as College Chaplain, he helps boys explore faith in God, seize opportunities to respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, consider the values Jesus taught, and reflect on their own identity.
Prior to his appointment at BBC, Mr Ward was a youth worker with Youth for Christ, a state school Chaplain in Victoria, and the Chaplain at John Paul College in Logan. In 2001, he received a Centenary Medal from the Prime Minister and Governor General of Australia for his “service to youth through counselling in schools”.
Mr Ward strongly believes that his work with young people is the calling of God in his life. Over a career spanning two-and-a-half decades of full-time Christian ministry, Mr Ward has spent countless hours counselling teenagers, attending camps, running Chapels, speaking at assemblies, teaching Christian Education classes, developing Christian curriculum, coordinating community service activities, performing weddings and funerals, and leading small groups.
