About the Impact Cricket Challenge

The Impact Cricket Challenge is an international cricket competition for secondary school-aged teams. The event, having been in operation since 1999 and now entering its 17th year will be hosted by the Impact Cricket Academy (est. 2002) and Brisbane Boys’ College (BBC).  Whilst the Academy, based at BBC, also offers holiday clinics and specialist coaching programs, the Impact Cricket Challenge is our flagship event, held in December each year. The Challenge features a week of diverse and exciting cricket competition interspersed with a range of social experiences.

Challenge Participants

The 2015 Impact Cricket Challenge attracts 26 teams from Malaysia, 3 x states of Australia and various parts of South East Queensland. Matches are against both local and travelling teams (within your Division) during the week of competition. In 2015, the competition age will be Under 18 (that is aged 17 or under on 31 December 2015).

Competition Structure

The Impact Cricket Challenge is conducted over five (5) competition days from the 7–11 December 2015 and will feature both One Day and Twenty20 matches to give all participants an opportunity to experience both formats of the game against a wide variety of opposition.

A Draw for the week of cricket will be determined and all teams will play 4 x one day matches (45 overs) during the week, separated by 2 x Twenty20 matches mid-week (on Wednesday).

Teams and Competition

Team and Divisions for 2015

The Level of Competition

The Impact Cricket Challenge welcomes teams of all standards and skill levels.  The level of competition will vary, as strong teams and not so strong teams play in the event, so teams will nominate themselves for either Division 1, 2 or 3. Teams may also include younger boys, as a development concept. There is no knockout – all teams will play every day. Following completion of matches on Day 5 (Friday) results will be calculated, placings determined and each of the 3 x Challenge Division Winners will be announced.

Competition Venues

All cricket matches will be played on quality turf wickets at some of Brisbane’s leading Schools and Colleges.  Play on available synthetic wickets will be considered only in the event of heavy rain prior to the start of play.

Challenge Division Winners

Following completion of matches on Day 5 (Friday) results and final points will be calculated, placings determined and each of the 3 x Challenge Division Winners will be determined. Within each Division, the team with the highest aggregate match points on Friday afternoon/evening will be announced as their

Division Winner. In the case of a tie, net run rate will be used to place these teams.

A ‘best and fairest’ All Stars Team (one player from each team at the Challenge) is also named for the event. In 2015, there will be no awards ceremony or trophy presentations at the end of the Impact Cricket Challenge.
