Support and Care With mum and dad not around our resident "House Parents" offer the Junior boys a little extra care and support which they need at a young age. In addition, resident teachers, tutors, counsellors and the College Chaplain are all in constant contact with the boys so that a personal relationship is established and lines of communication are always open. Boys have access to a qualified Nursing Sister 24 hours and the School Doctor is on call at all times. Also, our chefs prepare nutritionally balanced and tasty meals and special dietary needs are provided for. Space to Grow Boys of different ages have differing needs and our modern facilities provide each year group with individual, comfortable accommodation, a common room and study areas. With an emphasis on privacy and space each boy also has access to the school's networked computer system from his desk as well as his own email address for correspondence. Other school areas available for their use include the sports complex, swimming pool, tennis courts, extensive playing fields and arts facilities. Fellowship While most boys participate in GPS sport on Saturdays, a wide range of supervised weekend activities is organised in consultation with boarding students. Boys from different years are grouped together for activities to encourage the sharing of common interests and the fostering of a family environment. Aims and Objectives The aims of the Rudd House community at BBC are:
Discipline There are clear guidelines and expectations regarding standards of behaviour of BBC Boarders. Students are encouraged to conduct themselves in a polite, helpful and co-operative manner, and are expected to treat everyone with respect. The staff and leadership team do insist that high standards of discipline are maintained. Academic Achievement Each boy is encouraged to realise his full academic potential. Set homework hours are in place from Monday to Friday. Each Year Level studies separately under the supervision of a resident staff member or tutor. The Year 11 and 12 boarders are encouraged to learn to work independently, and they study in their cubicles under the supervision of a resident tutor. All boarders have access to the school computer and music facilities from Monday to Friday and on a Sunday evening. Involvement and Teamwork All boys are encouraged to participate in the wide range of activities catered for by the School and House system. We believe that participation leads to a better understanding of 'teamwork' and that boys gain enormous benefit from being involved in activities, regardless of their level of skill. Most of our students involve themselves in the school sports programme and actively participate on Saturdays. Within the Boarding House the House Captain, Dormitory Seniors and Sports Captains have a leadership role to play in organising House events. In close co-operation with the Director of Boarding, boys are encouraged to develop their leadership skills in order that they learn to lead by example. |
Guidance and Support Guidance and support for boys who are away from home is a great responsibility. We ensure the best possible care for young men in their developing years is provided through a structured system of specialist staff who are responsible for year groups. Contact Details

Weekends Most Saturdays see our Boarders involved in GPS sporting fixtures against other schools. Activities are provided for those who are in residence on a Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The Saturday activity is usually on-campus (perhaps using the pool or the gymnasium) and the Sunday activity involves a visit off-campus (to a film or a football or cricket match are typical examples). Boys from a variety of different faiths attend BBC, but all boarders are expected to attend weekly Chapel services and participate in the religious life of the school. From time to time social gatherings are held with girls' boarding schools and these, together with other activities, provide opportunities for boys to develop their social and interactive skills.
