Steps to Enrolment

Step 1 - Making an application

Return a completed Application for Enrolment form by mail with the current application fee of $200.. All applicants are placed on a Waiting List with the exception of son's of Old Collegians and siblings of past or current students. All other places are allocated in date order of application although the College reserves the right to allocate places at its discretion in special circumstances. Evidence of a previous enrolment at an independent school would also support the application. From this point on, you will receive information about BBC including copies of the school magazine "Collegian".

Step 2 - Diagnostic testing

As part of the enrolment process, boys are required to sit for a series of diagnostic tests held at BBC up to 24 months prior to enrolment. Parents of remote applicants are requested to nominate a person who is willing to supervise the tests on their behalf such as their son's class teacher, a Justice of the Peace or clergyman.

The results of these tests help us to build a profile which will provide the College with valuable background information about your son's individual skills and abilities. They will also give us a good indication as to whether or not he is able to cope with BBC's standard academic programme. At this time, parents are required to complete the Student Profile form and to provide the school with a copy of their son's most recent school report and Statewide Literacy and Numeracy tests (where applicable).

Step 3 - Interview and offer of a place

When the results of the tests are to hand, the boys and their parents are invited to attend an interview with the Head or Deputy Head of Junior School (for Years 4 - 6), Head of Middle School (for Years 7 - 9) or the Deputy Headmaster (for Years 10 - 12). The Headmaster and senior members of the academic staff may also assist with these interviews from time to time for Middle School and Senior School entrants. If a vacancy is available, an offer of a place may result and will be confirmed in writing.

Step 4 - Accepting the place

Enrolment will be confirmed on receipt of the current Confirmation Fee. Parents are also required to sign an Enrolment Contract accepting the policies, rules and regulations of the College.

Step 5 - Welcome to BBC : Enrolment Package and Orientation

In the October before their son commences at BBC, parents will receive a package with all the information required to start school, including uniforms, books and the procedures for the new school year. Your son will also receive an invitation to spend a day in November experiencing school life at BBC.
