2009 Scholarship and Bursary Programme

A number of part Scholarships and Bursaries will be available for entry in 2009 based on a boy's examination results in the Annual Scholarship Examination, recent academic record and an interview with parents and applicant. Scholarships and Bursaries are available as follows:

Academic Scholarships

  • For entry into Years 7 to 11 awarded for excellence in academic achievement.
  • Boys entering Years 7 and 8 in 2009 will be awarded Scholarships until the end of Year 10.
  • Further awards may be made to these students for Years 11 and 12 based on their Grade Point Average in Year 10. However, if a scholarship winner does not meet the criteria for the continuation of his scholarship for Years 11 and 12, the option of applying for financial assistance will be made available.
  • Scholarships for entry into Year 11 are awarded for a two-year period.

Decus Scholarships

  • For entry into Years 7 to 11 for boys who demonstrate good academic ability and who have a record of representative achievement in either the sporting or cultural arena at state, national or similar level. 
  • The term of the award will be determined by the year of entry.
  • Short-listed Music applicants may be asked to attend an audition.

Bursaries

  • Awarded to students for entry into Years 7 to 11 who demonstrate the potential to achieve good all round results both in the classroom and within the wider school programme
  • Special consideration will be given to boarding applicants who live outside Brisbane and are unable to meet the financial commitment of boarding school

All applicants are required to send in a copy of their latest school report after registering online or with the completed paper registration form. Decus and bursary applicants are required to provide an outline of their achievements on a single A4 sheet. Registration Procedures


Please refer to the Candidates Information Bulletin and follow instructions carefully before registering.  Registration is now available online via the BBC website (www.bbc.qld.edu.au) by following the links, or by filling out the attached paper application form.


The Registration Fee in 2008 is $90 (inc GST). No refunds will be made to candidates who absent themselves from the examination. The final date for online registrations is 5:00 pm Friday, 11 April 2008.

Candidates registering after this date will incur a late fee of $290 (basic registration fee of $90 + late fee of $200).


A candidate may, in extreme circumstances, walk in on the day of the examination. The walk in fee is $330 (basic registration fee of $90 + walk in surcharge of $240).

The examination will be held at the Sports Complex, the best access to which is via the Kensington Terrace entrance, on Saturday 10th May commencing at 8.45 am. Candidates must report no later than 8.15 am. There will be intervals between the tests and boys should bring something to eat and drink in this period. All candidates must bring two HB or B pencils, an eraser, a ruler and two blue or black pens.

Students will be ready for collection at 12.30 noon or shortly afterwards. Parents should note that no staff will be on duty after 1.00pm.

Limited parking is available on the roads within the College grounds and we recommend that parents park in Kensington Terrace and the surrounding side streets.
