Brisbane Boys College Swimming Program offers a range of swimming classes and Squads to cater from Stroke Correction to National Level swimmers.
The BBC swimming program encourages a positive attitude in and away from competition, throughout all aspects and levels of training and preparation. We emphasis the values of sportsmanship and the importance of Team Spirit and Team pride. Aquatics Support Group Junior Swimming (prep - 7) BBC Junior Swimming offers 4 dynamic and creative levels of lessons, plus private coaching and holiday swim clinics. Non BBC students are welcomed and encouraged to participate in our junior program. Last season more than 160 children from 14 different schools participated in the BBC Junior Swim Program. The philosophy of BBC Junior Swimming is "to provide an enjoyable, positive environment where children of all levels, abilities and sporting backgrounds can improve their skill, technical ability and speed in swimming as well as improve their general fitness and well being." BBC Junior Swimming aims to provide an excellent foundation for children to continue a lifelong association with swimming whether that be as recreation or elite level. Competition highlights for the Junior School includes Junior GPS, Combined Independent Championships (CIC), and Primary State and National championships. Senior Swimming (Years 8 - 12) The Senior Swimming program is exclusively for BBC students. The major focus of the program is preparing boys for school, interschool, regional, state and national competition. The senior program comprises of pre-season training JUL-SEP, early season training OCT-DEC, and competition season JAN-APR. Conditioning is a key element of skill acquisition and development and is accomplished through consistent effort, commitment and dedication. At BBC we believe flexibility, strength, mental preparation, stroke mechanics, nutrition and enjoyment are basic components of successful swimming. These are focused upon and emphasised throughout our swimming programs. Swimming training at BBC is conducted in the College 25m heated outdoor pool and a 50m off campus pool. For the Senior School Swim Team major competitions include: GPS Championships, and State and National Secondary Schools Championships. All competitive BBC swimmers are encouraged to become involved in Club, Interclub, Brisbane (BSA) and Queensland swimming (QSA).
