"Knowing Christ, and Making Him Known"

The Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF), supported by Scripture Union Qld, is made up of a group of students and teachers who celebrate the fact that Jesus Christ is at the heart of their lives, and the life of the College Community. The group also seeks to provide opportunities for those who are seeking to examine the claims of Christianity more closely, and who are seeking to explore life’s deeper issues.

The ISCF group thus plays a vital part in fulfilling the College’s Mission Statement, in catering for the spiritual growth of the students of BBC.

WHAT DOES ISCF DO?

The Main Meeting

The focus of the ISCF programme is a Wednesday lunch-time meeting, consisting of a mixture of :

  • games
  • discussions
  • guest speakers
  • prayer
  • topical issues
  • videos
  • fun activities
  • student-led meetings

Small Groups

At various times during the year, small groups meet, to cater for discussion and spiritual growth/exploration at a more personal level. These are co-ordinated by a member of staff, and are usually student-led.

  • Christianity Explained to enable students to examine the central tenets of the Christian faith.
  • Discipleship Groups to explore practical issues of daily Christian living.

Wednesday Morning Chapel

Worship and communion for staff and students is led by the chaplain, in the Chapel of St Andrew, at 7:45am.

Social Events

Twice a term, social events are held in conjunction with Somerville House, Clayfield College, and various other ISCF groups. Such events include :

  • progressive dinners
  • "Dive In" movies
  • "Fast Food" crawls
  • Games Nights
  • Theme nights

Fund raising

Each year, the ISCF group chooses a number of Christian ministry/special needs projects, for which to raise funds, through events such as car washes, special dinners, and catering at functions.

Famine

30,000 children die each day
210,000 children each week
It only takes you 40 hours to change that!
Go without food, technology, furniture or something else that really matters to you... it’s your choice. Then ask your friends to make a donation.
The Famine officially runs from 8pm on Friday 17 to noon on Sunday 19 August 2007, but if you can’t make it- choose your own time.
This is your chance to give something back to kids just like you in Laos and East Timor and to DO SOMETHING REAL!
Sign-up after assembly in Weeks 2 & 3.

HOW DOES ISCF RUN?

Staff

A team of five or more staff, including the College chaplain are involved in running the ISCF programme. At present those involved are :

Students

Each year, a team of approximately 10 students from a variety of year levels are elected by the ISCF group to act as a leadership committee. Each member has a particular portfolio responsibility, and the leadership team meets once a week for prayer, planning, training, and programme evaluation.

Support Group

This group consists of parents, old Collegians, and BBC staff. They contribute through :

  • A weekly prayer meeting in the College Chapel of St Andrew (Tuesdays 2pm 3pm)
  • A Quarterly prayer breakfast (usually the second Tuesday of each school term)
  • Providing help with catering and supervision at social functions hosted by BBC ISCF.

Camps

SU Queensland, the parent body of ISCF, runs a comprehensive vacation holiday camping programme, catering for a wide range of interests. Students from the College are encouraged to attend these camps.

The ISCF group at BBC also runs an annual weekend camp, in conjunction with other schools, at Mudjimba Beach, on the Sunshine Coast.
