What is the Runner's and Fitness Club?

Brisbane Boys College recognises the importance of sport in developing character and positive attitudes in young people. At all times, BBC Sports acknowledges and adheres to the principles of AUSSIE SPORT, which include recognition of equity, equal opportunity and inclusiveness for all students.

The BBC Runners Club is a new initiative of the school. Its purpose is to provide a formal structure for boys to improve their aerobic fitness and specific skill development. Runner's Club coaches also support and work with Cross Country and Track coaches to improve the standard and integrity of these sports in the school. The club also promotes the development of sound health principles and practices.

What are the Club aims?

  1. To promote general fitness amongst students of BBC through running and physical activities.
  2. To provide opportunities for students to compete against their own performances, other members of the group.
  3. To create and maintain a caring environment where students learn and develop physical and social skills to the best of their ability.
  4. To provide and maintain high quality coaching resources and facilities for all members.
  5. To foster and maintain links between various sporting groups within the school community.

It is essential our boys are provided with the best opportunities to improve and develop skills. To achieve this, we have obtained the services of quality coaching and support personnel who personalise and customise training schedules to suit the needs of each individual. All athletes who make a commitment to seek school selection are provided with individual training schedules and programs. As well as getting sound coaching advice and supervision, sports massage is also available to help our runners manage injuries.
