Welcome from the Football Support Group
The 2007 season heralded great success for our boys, becoming the GPS Champion School – a feat awarded to the school achieving the best overall standing in each GPS grade. Led admirably by the dedication of Football Director, Greg Brown, I am sure that 2008 will further the tradition of Football excellence at BBC. The development programs that have been implemented over the past 12 months have proven beneficial to all of our boys. The First XI squad has been training hard at camp as well as in the weights room and are poised to challenge for the coveted premiership this year. The FSG is created simply to assist the boys in getting the best possible support throughout their footballing life at the school. We assist the Director of Football and the College to make training and playing as enjoyable and rewarding as possible through:
I urge all parents and players to give your support to the FSG. With our games split between the College and Queensland University we you’re your assistance even it is just for only half an hour. We need new volunteers for the FSG as many committee members will be leaving the school over the next couple of years. We are excited about the prospects for the teams this year and look forward to another successful season of BBC Football. Yours in Football Jon McPhail Sponsors Queensland Roar Football Club is sponsoring the College in a number of ways. They are running a coaching program for the Junior school teams and are supplying first team players to attend our Skills clinics. We are looking to enhance our relationship with the number one Football club in Queensland.
Football Support Day Each year BBC Football marks a 'home' Saturday as a special day of SUPPORT for all our teams. As far as possible, all BBC teams will play home games on this day. Players and parents of all teams will be encouraged to support their fellow Collegians in matches prior and following their own. This year, of course, our day of support will be Saturday 10th May, the first GPS fixture versus Gregory Terrace. The culmination of the day will be the First XI Premiership fixture v GT. The Headmasters of both schools will be there to meet players and officials, from both schools, in a special ceremony before the match. There will also be strong Old Boy support on this day. All parents and Football players are strongly encouraged to support on this day, which also attracts a Football Support Group theme of "Banter on the By-Line". (First XI kick-off at 1.30pm) See you there! |
