Activities
Before School Care offers children a relaxing environment with the flexibility to participate in planned activities, catch up on school work, or just relax and prepare for the day ahead.
During After School Care we offer a range of recreational activities appropriate to age and interests of children. Students are given the opportunity to do homework following afternoon tea. This is supervised by staff.
The Vacation Care program is action-packed with planned activities, but also offers children free-choice. Excursions are offered during the holidays and the service ensures a high level of supervision on these days by increasing staff numbers.
Extracurricular activities
Children involved in extracurricular activities are able to access the program before and after these activities, within program hours.
Food and Nutrition
Balanced and healthy eating is promoted by the service. We encourage positive learning experiencesduring meal times where nutritious foods are served and good eating habits are developed.
Action Factory develops menus based on “Smart Choices” (Healthy Food and Drink Supply Strategy for Queensland Schools), and has been awarded a high result from Nutrition Australia in an audit of our menu.
The service is supportive of, and will meet, special dietary requirements of children. Parents/guardians should feel free to discuss their children’s needs with the Coordinator.
Breakfast will be available during Before School Care program as an option for children. Afternoon tea will be supplied on arrival at the After School Care program. During Vacation Care, the service provides lunch, unless advised otherwise. We pride ourselves on the quality and variety of our food.
Sun Safety
At Action Factory, we enjoy the outdoors. As children spend a considerable amount of time playing outside, we are committed to protecting them from the harmful effects of the sun. We believe that by modeling good practices and education, children will develop good “SunSmart” habits while they are still young.
Action Factory has developed a “SunSmart Policy” and has been approved as a “SunSmart Centre” by the Cancer Council of Queensland.
